One of the tourist attractions in Salou is the 'trenet' or tourist train, a train that transits through the main attractions of the capital of the Costa Dorada. The tourist train offers one route in winter only in the morning and, in summer, two routes with different stops that allow to enjoy the coastal landscape of Salou and to discover the buildings and the most emblematic places of the municipality. The Salou City Council already has the two main security devices ready for the summer season on the municipality's beaches: the Beach Police Station and the lifeguard service. The first will have twenty service agents, while the lifeguard service has various land and water vehicles for rescue tasks.

On October 9, 2021, Salou will host the first Aqua Beach Trail Championship of Catalonia, jointly organized by the Salouenc Excursionist Club and the Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC). The Salou City Council will improve access to the Llarga beach, in the western area, taking advantage of the protection works being carried out by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. The objective is to facilitate access and recover the naturalness of the space.

Salou is already working to make the beaches ready for the beginning of the tourist season, which is during Holy Week. Specifically, 15,000 cubic meters of fine sand are transferred from the beaches of Ponent and Llevant to the Llarga beach, the Llenguadets cove and the Capellans beach, to repair the damage of the last storm.

Salou City Council works to implement a protection plan for the 10 beaches and coves of its natural heritage, to preserve them from the effects of climate change. A study of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia is the basis of this action.

As the consistory advanced last November, a set of devices has been installed on Llevant Beach in Salou to carry out calisthenics exercises, which already equip other parts of the municipality's coastline. The group of elements that allow to carry out this outdoor sports modality has cost 9,637.65 euros.

The replacement works of the sand of Llarga and Llenguadets beaches, in the municipality of Salou, began last week. The action consists in transferring sediments accumulated in the beach of Ponent to the most affected by the storms of this past winter that have caused the loss of sand in the affected places.
