Salou, a destination of excellence for family tourism HOLA Família!

Salou has been awarded the certificate of family tourism destination “HOLA Família!” by the Catalan Tourism Agency, which recognises the excellence of the municipality's tourist offer, especially aimed at families. So much so that Salou meets 86% of the required requirements (31 out of 36), which makes the capital of the Costa Dorada one of the best family tourism destinations in the Mediterranean.

In fact, Salou has already had the family tourism certificate since 2003, with 55,000 accommodation places of different types (hotels, apartments and campsites) with specific offers for families; with family leisure companies; with beaches with services designed especially for families (including a 200 square metre children's area on Llevant beach) and free activities for families with children of different ages in summer, and coinciding with the main festive calendar of the municipality (the chestnut festival, Christmas, local festivals, etc.)

The involvement and collaboration of the private sector with the City Council and the Salou Tourist Board is key to achieving this type of quality certification, such as "HOLA Família!" which allows for promotional benefits such as greater visibility and prioritisation in the family segmentation campaigns of the Catalan Tourism Agency, especially those with international projection. It also encourages participation in the development of specific co-marketing campaigns, in collaboration with the Agency and other recognised destinations, which will help to further enhance the attractiveness of Salou on a global level.

The Agency will also provide support to Salou in awareness-raising tasks aimed at local companies, reinforcing the importance of the family segment within the destination. In addition, Salou will have priority in registering for B2B family tourism actions in international markets, as well as preferential participation in innovative projects that include the family segment.

Another notable advantage is the exclusive use of the nomenclature "HOLA Família!" that Salou will be able to use in all its communications and promotions, consolidating its image as a family destination par excellence.

The mayor of Salou and president of the Tourism Board, Pere Granados, has highly valued the fact that the municipality has received the "HOLA Família!" program distinction from the Generalitat de Catalunya. For Granados, this recognition reaffirms Salou's position as one of the best tourist destinations on the Mediterranean coast dedicated to family tourism. In addition, the mayor believes that this distinction opens up new opportunities for the capital of the Costa Daurada to attract more visitors, new markets and boost its local economy, by promoting inclusive and sustainable tourism.
