The municipalities of Salou, Cambrils and the nucleus of La Pineda in Vila-seca have an integrated urban conurbation and you can walk from one population to another without realizing it. For this reason, the 3 municipalities have agreed on basic regulations to regulate the circulation of electric scooters and assisted bicycles. Here we explain where you will be able to circulate and how with these ecological and sustainable vehicles.
Where electric scooters and assisted bicycles can circulate
- They will be able to circulate along the bike lanes of the 3 municipalities:
Salou has 17 km that will be expanded with 3 km more soon
Cambrils has 24 km of bike path
Vila-seca has 12 km of bike path
- They will also be able to circulate on streets that have the same roadway and sidewalk. In the case of Salou, the first of these routes will be Carles Buigas street, while Cambrils and Vila-seca already have various streets of this type.
- By all these routes, it will be possible to circulate at most 30 km/hour
Where you can not ride with electric scooters and electric bikes
It will not be possible to circulate with these vehicles:
- Down the sidewalks
- By interurban routes
- Through streets where you can circulate at more than 30 km/hour
How electric scooters and electric bikes can circulate. Rules:
- Only 1 person can go
- They will be able to circulate during the day. At night they will have to carry lights in front and behind, and the driver must carry some reflective element
- People must wear a helmet
- The driver must be over 16 years old
- Minors may not carry electric scooters, but they can carry mechanical scooters
On the other hand, it must be taken into account that the regulations of Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca la Pineda on electric scooters and electric bicycles also differentiate whether they are private or for rent, with commercial or public use.
Thus, when developing an economic activity with the rental of electric scooters or electric bicycles it will be necessary:
- civil liability insurance
- vehicles must be labeled to identify the company
- At the tourist rental level, the groups must be less than 10 scooters and must carry a guide to avoid infractions or incívicas actions.
The municipalities of Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca will each elaborate their municipal regulations based on the aforementioned criteria and bases, prepared jointly by the municipal technicians of the respective municipalities, and by the local police.
The presentation of this joint action has been made by the mayor of Cambrils, Camí Mendoza, and the mayors of Salou, Pere Granados, and Vila-seca, Pere Segura, accompanied by councilors from the respective municipalities and the heads of the municipal police.
