Salou. Costa Dorada. 20 July 2019. Salou has taken a step further in the strengthening of its coastal area with the recovery of the park and green area of Capellans beach. The action has allowed to create a viewpoint from where to contemplate one of the most spectacular corners of the capital of the Costa Dorada: from the tip of the Po-Roig to the Lazareto.
In total the City of Salou has intervened in 2,258 square meters, remodeling the old park built in the 70s, next to Capellans beach. Specifically, accessibility has been improved and architectural barriers have been removed; spaces have been paved; the existing stairs have been renovated; wooden railings have been placed to make the viewpoint; the walls have been repaired and repainted; the green zone has been cleared; the landscaped has been recovered and the trees have been restored. In a next phase it is planned to re-equip the park with new attractions and playgrounds.
The total budget of the work was € 246,881.67. The Provincial Council of Tarragona has participated in its financing by granting the City Council of Salou a subsidy amounting to 59,456 euros from the Municipal Action Plan (PAM).
The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, accompanied by the first deputy president of the Provincial Council, Quim Nin, inaugurated the Capellans beach viewpoint and the rest of the remodeling works. They have also assisted several councilors and councilors of the City of Salou, and neighbors in the area.
During the ceremony, Granados has ruled that "this set of actions have allowed this green park to be more permeable, more accessible and more visible from the street of Brusel·les". The mayor also recalled that "much has been invested to advance the completion of the environmental recovery project of the Cape Salou coastline and in the construction of the Camino de Ronda, for which the State is committed to providing sufficient funding to finish the second phase, from the Replanells to the Racó area (la Pineda)".
For his part, the vice president of the council, Quim Nin, has appreciated that "the mayor and his team will one day dream that this viewpoint could be another way to promote Salou and enjoy spectacular views." Nin also stressed that "the viewpoint represents social welfare, welfare for the people".
