To better spend the cold of winter and not fall into the discouragement of short and often disappearing days, there is no better recipe than to participate and live intensely the Fiesta Mayor de Salou. In late January and early February, the capital of the Costa Dorada is revolutionized and prepares an intense program of events for all ages and for all tastes.
This year 2020, the City of Salou with the collaboration of the associations of the municipality, has prepared a program of Winter Festival with 80 events, from January 23 to February 3, both included, in which the music It is one of the great protagonists. In addition, this 2020 is a year of important celebrations: the 40 years of the Coso Blanco, the most emblematic act of the Fiesta Mayor, and the 10 years of the Mulassa and the Morena, two of the most appreciated festive elements of Salou. To celebrate, the Mulassa will walk through the streets of Salou on January 31 from 10 p.m., from the Plaza del Carrilet.
In addition, for the first time this year the City Council has published a recyclable glass that can be purchased at the price of 1 euro in the tent bar or poison. The goal is to reuse it during all the holidays to avoid the production of plastics unnecessarily, and thus contribute to making a party more sustainable. And when the Festival is over, it can be saved as a souvenir.
On the other hand, the violet and multicolored Point will be available to people attending the Fiesta Mayor. It will work on January 24, 30 and 31 in the tent, with the purpose of informing and accompanying the population in situations of sexist violence and any type of discrimination that may occur. Information points on drug use will also be reinforced, with the aim of preventing their use. The operating hours are from 10:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. on the 24th; from 10.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m. on the 30th and from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the 31st of January.
It should be noted that all the performances in the tent have a limited capacity, and that in some cases they are distributed free invitations that must be collected in the previous days at the City Hall.
We start
The Fiesta Mayor will start to warm up engines on Thursday, January 23, with a big concert in the tent or poisoning after 22 hours. The Luand groups, winners of the 4th edition of the Salou "La Canción del Verano" music contest, by TAC 12, and Porto Bello, the young Altafulla group that will present their second album "L'ull de la tempesta" at a rhythm, will perform of ska, reagge, rumba, rock and punk, among other styles. Band the Cool will close the night, with current and all-time fun songs.
But the official start of the Salou 2020 Winter Festival will be the proclamation, which this year will be in charge of the young actress of Tarragona Júlia Creus, who has risen to fame for her role as student Monica of the popular series of TV3 "Merlí". The event will take place at the Auditorium Theater of Salou (TAS) on January 24 at 8:30 p.m., and will be used to present the queens and bridesmaids and the king of the Salou Festival of this year. They are: Claudia Isabel Utrera, Sam de la Torre, Giulietta Amado, Ginevra Mohedano, Nerea Rabelo, Antia Villa, Eva Pacheco, Emma Nasarre, Julia Nasarre and Ivan García. The proclamation will close with a big party starter.
The Winter Festival of Salou combines concerts, dances and musical performances with activities of traditional culture such as the parade of the festive elements of the municipality on January 25, the meeting of giants on the 26th, or the sardanas on the same January 26. Also noteworthy are sports activities, such as football 24h (January 25 and 26), pedaling and popular walking (also on day 26) or petanque or domino championships (January 26 and 30 respectively) ). Among the musical performances, Camela especially stands out on January 25, starting at 11 pm in the tent. This show can only be accessed by invitation, which can be picked up at Salou City Hall, from January 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Boys, girls and senior citizens
The program of the Major Winter Festival of Salou also has very present to the smallest of the house and the oldest. Thus, throughout the program you can find all kinds of activities (workshops, inflatables, shows, storytelling ...) for boys and girls. In addition, the little ones and little ones can give their pacifier to the Morera during the parade on the 25th, starting at 11 a.m.
For its part, Salou's senior citizens will receive their tribute on January 27, with a succulent snack and dance, and on January 30 a tribute will be made to the older woman of the municipality, focused this year on Maria Teresa Bargalló Gendre.
Other activities
The program of the Major Winter Festival of Salou includes other alternative cultural and recreational activities, such as the literary gathering with Gemma Lienas, on January 22 at 6:30 p.m., in the Salou Library, to comment on his novel “El fil invisible".
In addition, on January 26, at 6:30 p.m., the work "Rulos y caviar del bueno" by Associació de Teatre will be represented in the TAS. The work is written by José María Azabal and directed by Lydia Wagner.
On Monday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m., the game "The puzzle of confetti, a case to be solved!" Will take place at the Salou Library. It is a game of clues to discover various incidents prior to the celebration of the Fiesta Mayor.
Finally, during every day of the Salou Winter Festival, the “Assassina Pastanaga” game will be held, in which all participants, between the ages of 18 and 99, can be victims and murderers at the same time. .
