The Squid Festival or how to enjoy Salou in November
If you are wondering what to do in Salou in November, the answer is easy because November is the squid month par excellence in Salou, and for this reason it is essential to enjoy the Squid Festival, which this 2023 reaches its 48th edition, and the Squid Gastronomic Days, to taste delicious dishes with this cephalopod mollusk as an ingredient major.
The Squid Festival is celebrated from November 20 to 25, both included, and focuses on a squid fishing contest in which fishermen, retirees or amateurs, who have a boat to fish for this mollusk can participate.
Every afternoon the boats will leave the Club Nàutic de Salou at 3:15 p.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. with the day's catch. Each boat will add points based on the fishing achieved during the week and the one with the highest score will win.
On Sunday, November 26, starting at 11 a.m., at the La Terrassa Restaurant at the Nàutic in Salou, the awards ceremony will take place for the participants. Apart from the prize for the boat with the most points, the boat that catches the largest squid will also be awarded, with an award given by the Club Nàutic.
For its part, the Salou Sport Fishing Society will give the prize for the largest catch of squid. Also, trophies will be distributed to the skipper of each category and a commemorative souvenir will be given to the rest of the participants.
The Squid Festival is one of the oldest in Salou and has an eminently recreational character, and with symbolic trophies, which also remembers the seafaring past of the capital of the Costa Dorada.
In parallel, and until November 26, lovers of good cuisine can enjoy menus and tasting dishes in the 14 establishments participating in the Salou Squid Gastronomic Days.
