The Race XXV Rei Jaume between Salou and Majorca, on Friday
Salou. Costa Daurada. Salou and the Balearic Islands reminisced once again made the trip to King Jaume I to conquer the island of Mallorca. The King Jaume regatta, organized jointly by the yacht clubs in Santa Ponsa and Salou, beginning this September 9, 2011 and end on Sunday September 11 in Santa Ponsa. This classic race calendar this year celebrates its 25th anniversary and its length is a tribute to the feat in 1229 King James I took to conquer Mallorca starting from the coast of Salou. The Rei en Jaume involve 16 boats type of cruise RI / ORC from different ports of the Catalan coast and the Balearic Islands and will be scoring for the Championship of Spain Cruises - Mediterranean Zone. On the other hand, Baquero, Class RI and Flash Back, Promotion, imposed last weekend in the race before the King James. The Raquero, which belongs to Tarragona and skippered RCN Eugenio Lopez won the three races contested and exceeded classification, Vieta Tramendu Salvador (CV Blanes) and Myriapoda Lluís Romeu (RCN Barcelona). In the category of Promotion, Flash Back Josep Maria Pujol beat Hippo Alfons IV, skippered and Majoki Romero Josep Oliva, second and third respectively. These three vessels belonging to the Club Náutico de Salou. The first day was played out on a journey to Salou, passed a first mark located at the pier of the port of Cambrils, a second, located off Cape Salou and finally the arrival at the port of Salou. The trip lasted about 4 hours and was played with a wind of 6 to 7 knots. The second day of racing two tests could be made of three scheduled with a distance upwind-downwind (windward-leeward) with a wind rose steadily, averaging 18 to 22 knots.
