The blue flags are already flying on the beaches of Salou

Raising the quality flags of the beaches of Salou

Salou. Costa Dorada. 31 July 2020.
The blue flags that certify the quality of Salou's beaches already fly on their masts until the end of summer. The mayor of the municipality and president of the Tourist Board, Pere Granados, accompanied by various councilors of the City Council, has raised the Blue Flags on the beaches of Llevant and Capellans; the Q flag for Tourist Quality in Llevant and Ponent, and the ISO 14.001: 2005 flags on all beaches in the capital of the Costa Dorada.

The Blue Flags is an accreditation granted by the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) and the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) if the beaches meet various criteria related to the quality of bathing water, information and environmental education , environmental and safety management, and the services and facilities offered by the beach.

For its part, the Q for Tourist Quality is a recognition of the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE) to recognize the services offered by the beaches in terms of safety, rescue and lifeguard, nautical activities, leisure establishments, cleaning, maintenance; as well as water and sand.

Finally, the ISO 14.001: 2015 flag that flies on all the beaches of Salou is an international certification that guarantees an effective environmental management system. The certificate is renewed every three years, with follow-up audits every year.

In the act of raising the flags, the mayor of Salou has reaffirmed the effort of the municipality to maintain "a level of excellence in all its beaches" and to continue "working so that the municipality has even more 'Q for Quality' recognitions" .

The event was also attended by the Councilor for Beaches: Quality and Use Plan, Julia Gómez; the councilor for Beaches: Maintenance, Repairs and Adjustments, Pedro Madrona; and the councilor for Citizen Security and Mobility, David González, as well as the head of the Salou Local Police, the head of the Mossos d'Esquadra police station in Vila-seca, and representatives of concessionaire companies and sports clubs related to the maritime field.
