Tarragona promote rural tourism accommodation in Costa Dorada
Salou. Costa Dorada. 3rd May 2012. The Tourist Board of the Tarragona Provincial Government will promote rural tourism accommodation in Costa Dorada, a sector that, in recent years has experienced a downward trend. To pursue this initiative, the Board has held a meeting with the associations of country houses of the Gold Coast that has helped define and establish a plan for sector specific promotion. The meeting, which was attended by representatives of associations of the Alt Camp and Conca de Barbera, Priorat, have been analyzed and shared sector data relating to their development in the province of Tarragona. Furthermore, we studied the data on the volume of people present, employment levels, price trends, market analysis and origin of promotional strategies and marketing. The meeting served to define the content and a specific plan, and establish a timetable of action for its implementation. The plan will consider measures to support the on-line marketing, advertising campaign on radio and creating a website to spread the homes of rural tourism in Costa Dorada. The campaign will take place in spring and autumn, and will target markets like Barcelona and its metropolitan area, national-, state-Valencia, Bilbao and Aragon-and international-France and Belgium. Through this action the Tourist Board of the Tarragona Provincial Government wants to support a sector that, in recent years has experienced a downward trend, according to market factors, competition and economic situation. In addition will the funding of the Provincial Tourist Board, the plan will also include the provision of gifts, visits and free stays by associations of rural houses of the Alt Camp, Conca de Barbera and Priorat.
