Tarragona is home to the IV Congress of Medieval and Modern Archaeology of Catalonia on 10 June
Tarragona. Costa Dorada. On Thursday 10 June 2010 will begin in Tarragona Fourth Congress of Medieval and Modern Archaeology in Catalonia extend its session until Sunday 13 noon. Is organized by the Heritage Area of the City Council and the Association for Research in Catalan Medieval Archaeology (ACRAM) with the support of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Generalitat of Catalonia. The conference is part of the promotional events of Tarragona as a candidate for European Capital of Culture 2016. These congresses are held every four years since 1998, meet the majority of Catalan researchers from the world of professional and college, working in archeology, medieval and modern Catalonia. The inaugural event will take place on Thursday 10 June at 10 am, will be chaired by the Mayor of Tarragona and will be attended by the Director General of Cultural Heritage of the Generalitat of Catalonia and President of ACRAM. The sessions will be held at the Institute of Municipal Education (Avenida Ramón y Cajal, 70). During the four-day congress will present 133 papers referring to the whole Catalan territory, with a significant presence in the Tarragona region of interventions. There will also be some communication regarding interventions outside the Principality such as the Balearic Islands. The conference is divided into three blocks. The first day will focus on communications in a single subject case study corresponds Tarragona Congress of the transition between the Roman and medieval theme of special interest in the case of the city of Tarragona. The days will present various topics of communications collected under the headings rural and urban world, which gives a very complete vision of archaeological activity in Catalonia since 2006, the year in which the Congress was held in Sabadell. The academic sessions of the congress will be complemented by 12 on Saturday afternoon with a guided tour of the Medieval Tarragona involving the audience. The conference will be in town over the four days nearly 200 archaeologists and others interested in the world of archaeological deposits of medieval and modern.
