Campaign to inform of the risks to the beaches with the support of the City of Salou
Salou. Costa Dorada. 16th July 2012. The Generalitat of Catalonia, through the Directorate General of Civil Protection (DGPC), has today launched a campaign to Salou to sensitize the population about the risks of the beaches and stressed the need to observe a minimum self-protection measures . The DGPC distributed 10,000 posters and billboards these days, under the slogans on the beach looks can be deceiving and at the beach, put all the senses, seek the attention of users of Catalan beaches on two fundamental aspects to improve security on the coast: the meaning of the color of the flags (green bathroom free; yellow: caution, red: prohibited bath) and remember the phone call to 112 emergency only, which is free and can call from where there is mobile coverage, although not to the operator that it has contracted. The campaign recently added to the initiative from the Department of Beaches in the City of Salou in order to combat antisocial behavior that occurs on the beach. Thus, through the ordinance of civility and coexistence exists a section dealing with the prohibition of the bathroom with red flag and includes the amendment incorporated in Article 9.6 .. This refers to the prohibition of swimming at the beach and when you have red flag. This offense is very serious in nature and involve a fine of € 400. The Councillor for Beaches, Julia Gomez, said that "we do all that is within our power to prevent people in danger of putting their lives at risk when bathing is dangerous" and added that "The Campaign to support the shared goal of the Civic Order, the thousands of swimmers who want to visit us every year to enjoy a peaceful and safe holiday." The monitoring service signals bathing areas in accordance with established classification and change the type of beach time where the circumstances so warrant or other aspects. It prohibits the bathroom as well as leisure or recreational activities, such as renting jet skis, skates, etc., if the red flag is placed. People who bathe disregarding this prohibition do so at your own risk. In this case can be forced to leave the water for their safety, notwithstanding the imposition of sanctions by the relevant municipal authority. 10,000 informative posters in 70 coastal towns Civil Protection of the Government distributed 10,000 posters in 70 coastal municipalities in 12 counties: in municipalities, county councils, tourist information offices, campsites and hotel associations for dissemination among members and directly in hotels and first-aid posts Red Cross and the Catalan Association of Aquatic Monitoring Companies.
