Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors come to Salou, the capital of the Costa Dorada and the beach of Europe. Most of these visitors travel through the towns of Salou and the Costa Dorada by own car or rental car. This option allows you to move around in freedom around the city and discover the most unusual of the coast of Salou. During the winter months, in low season, finding a car park or parking in Salou is no complication. However, during the high season, and especially in the months of July and August, the car parks and the blue areas reserved for parking have a high level of occupancy.
Salou has 2,000 parking spaces in the blue area, 1,000 of which are distributed among the streets, while the rest fall into four areas designated for surface parking, regulated by parking meters. Moreover, Salou also has three underground car parks.
- The parking area Jaume I, the largest and busiest, is located in the Jaume I walk along the beach of Levante, undoubtedly the most common beach of Salou. This park, which is located on the surface, is divided into two zones, each with 261 parking spaces and has two entrances. One of them is located in the Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas and the other outside the headquarters of the Tourism Department.
The car park is in operation from mid-March to early October. During the remainder of access to the car park is free. The rates that apply at this car park are 2.77 euros per hour for the first three hours, 2'44 euros per hour between the third and the eighth hour and 19'45 euros from 8 hours to 24. This car park also offers monthly subscriptions.
- At the confluence of the streets Mayor and Baleares, behind the building of Municipal Tourism, there is a small parking area, also surface and regulated by parking meters, with a total of 25 parking spaces.
- In the street Torremolinos, at the end of Avenida Carles Buïgas, there is the largest of the two paid car parks found in Salou. It is an unpaved parking area regulated by parking meters, with capacity for 280 cars at a price of 5 euros a day.
- Finally, on Avenida Pompeu Fabra it is located another large car park with a capacity for 150 cars, an unpaved area and regulated by parking meters. The price of this car also is 5 euros per day.
- Apart from these surface parking areas, the city of Salou has three covered car parks, although exploitation is run by private companies. This is the car parks on the street Corona d´Aragó, on the street Via Logroño and Via Roma, under the Municicipal Market.
Take into account, finally, that the cost of the fine for leaving your car illegally parked in Salou is 60 euros, and if the crane takes your car, the cost of this service is 124 euros, total 184 euros.
